J and my master bed room is a huge work in progress... It's a hodgepodge of his and my furniture thrown together. I was anxious to get a bed/headboard but I wanted to get one at a thrift store or DIY.
A friend referred me to the wonderful website of Ana White, http://ana-white.com; which offers plans for all kinds of furniture, including Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, and more. My dear husband and I are both not very handy, but I knew just who to talk to about making a new headboard.
I found the "Reclaimed Wood Pottery Barn type Headboard". This was modeled after the Mason Headboard, priced at $799 for a king.
I settled on this headboard but in a lighter shade. My Dad made the headboard quickly and said that the instructions were very good; total cost of supplies were $186 for premium lumber. Here are the pictures of the finished product (please excuse the poor photos, these were taken from my iphone):
It bolted right onto our King Size bed frame.
I may end up painting the headboard white but so far I'm happy with it. Here is the link to the finished plans! I can't wait to try (with my Dad's help!) a bookcase!
